Dock Shelters

The loading dock shelters as seen on many applications throughout the world is a very cost effective way of sealing your loading area. Dock shelters can accommodate a wide range of varying sized trailers offering different frame structures to meet hygiene regulations.

Side cladding of your dock systems can be colour co-ordinated to your building or corporate colours. Down to ground models are available for loading without a dock leveller. A bottom curtain is available with this option.

Double Deck Versions are Available

Foam Dock Seals

The Foam dock seal has been around for a long time and does a good job in certain applications ideally the trailers need to be fairly similar in size to create the best dock seal. Where trailers of differing heights need to be accommodated it is possible to add a head curtain or maybe an adjustable head pad.

Foam dock seals are manufactured with either a timber or galvanised steel backing board to which high density fire retardant polyurethane foam is adhered to. Each pad is then covered with a hard wearing PVC coated polyester fabric. Armour pleats are then added to prolong the life of the dock seals where the pads are being chafed.

It is most important to insure that the dock systems pads are compressed no more than 50-75mm this will help prevent damage to the dock seals. Where tail lifts are being used they can cause damage to the bottom half of the side pads, in this case the sides are manufactured in two pieces so that the bottom section can be replaced easily.

Inflatable Dock Shelters

There are many different designs of Inflatable dock shelters, we have tried to make ours as simple as possible. The frame that projects from the building is manufactured from 40mm thick insulated steel panels and can be coated in many standard colours to suit the individual requirement of the end user.

Once the trailer is positioned within the loading dock the side and head bags which are stored behind highly visible yellow curtains will inflate around the trailer to create the ultimate seal.

The door to the loading dock is then opened and you have created the best possible environment to carry out the loading and unloading of your trailers.

Inflatable dock shelters can be mounted at dock level height or can be installed at ground level for doors that are at low level.

Double Deck Trailers

Because of the unique way in which an inflatable works it is possible to manufacture it in such a way that it is suitable for trailers that vary in height from 3600mm to 5100mm and is by far the best way to convert a standard loading dock to suit double deck trailers.

There are numerous benefits to installing an inflatable dock shelter and they can be manufactured to suit a wide range of trailers including double deck trailers down to standard box trailers.

Benefits

The dock seal is created when the bags are inflated around the vehicle after it has docked. It eliminates the wear and tear normally associated with traditional dock shelters. It offers an optimum seal by blocking out weather, insects, dust, and other pollutants, and can save money on energy costs by keeping the working area at the optimum temperature.

Hi-Bred Dock Shelters

Fen-Bay Services introduced the Hi-Bred dock shelter into the market place in 2007 many of our clients liked the idea of a retractable shelter because of its resistance to damage. Unfortunately it does not suit a lot of applications where you have an inclined dock or water ingress onto the loading dock.

The simple solution is a retractable shelter with an inflatable to bag which can be switched on as and when it is required. It is designed to be used as a retractable shelter on a day to day basis giving a good seal around the trailer.

But on a day when rain water becomes a problem the head can be inflated to give the best possible seal. The shelter frames are manufactured from a very strong aluminium profile with cantilever pivot arms that retract upon impact, and are covered with a reinforced PVC coated fabric, The front curtains are manufactured from a 3mm thick PVC coated fabric that has been specially designed for dock shelters, which is both hard wearing and durable, The curtains Have built-in stabilisers that eliminate the need for Nylon or Steel stays that become broken and look unsightly.

These Seals have been well tested and are proving very popular.
