Dock Levellers
Dock Levellers
An electro-hydraulic dock leveller or dock leveler is best described as a bridge for connecting a vehicle to a building. Frequently the important characteristics that this tool needs are undervalued, in order to guarantee an efficient working environment to comply with the safety in work regulations.
Since the invention of the hydraulic dock-leveller, very little design improvements have been implemented by manufacturers of the traditional types, and the result is old concept products with poor characteristics in respect of safety in work and installation.
Fen-Bay dock levellers are manufactured to comply with all the current legislation and to supply the many different customer needs, offering new advantages and often cheaper costs.
The most advanced concept of the Fen-Bay dock leveller is to have the whole drive unit contained in a wall box which is installed on a wall inside the warehouse, at eye level, which allows for easy and economical maintenance, without the necessity to manoeuvre under the platform or inside the pit, where traditional power-packs and controls are usually installed: an undoubtedly dangerous, dirty and uncomfortable operation.
With the CONSOLLE fixed at eye level on the wall and containing the whole drive unit and controls, it is no longer necessary to go under the leveller platform for ordinary maintenance: it can all be done simply, economically and safely “standing” in front of the CONSOLLE poured around. The result is a perfectly squared, flush with the pavement, pit. The result is also aesthetically pleasing.
Hinged Lip dock leveller
Hinged/Radius lip dock levellers are best suited when a trailer is loaded through its rear doors and can be reversed onto a loading bay. The standard lip is 430mm which suits most Trailers but, A longer lip can be supplied when necessary they will service trailers 300mm above/below dock.
Automatic side flaps allow the choice of a wider platform dock leveller is in conformity with the EN 1398 whilst maintaining the ability to level narrower vehicles.
Telescopic Lip dock leveller
Telescopic lip dock levellers are ideal for connecting vehicles unable to drive near to the dock (containers, side loading trailers etc.), or where it is imperative to reach. They come with three lengths of lip 500mm 800mm and 1000mm to give a longer total length of the dock leveller.
The pit mounted dock leveller is installed into a pre formed pit, either existing or constructed by the builder. The pit has steel rims cast into the concrete which the bdock leveller is then welded to. Using this method the dock leveller can be installed once all the civil work is completed.
The Cast in ’C’ Type dock levellers are provided when a tail lift recess is required the preparation of the pit is carried out by the builder. The pit is formed with a recess around the top 20mm steel rods are installed into the rebate which the dock leveller ‘C’ Channel is welded to. Once in place the recess will then require back filling with concrete.
The Cast in ’L’ Type dock leveller is provided when a tail lift recess is required or when installing into a steel dock the preparation of the pit is carried out by the builder. The pit is formed with a recessed angle around the rim, the dock leveller is then placed into position and welded in. Using this method the dock leveller can be installed once all the civil work is completed.

SIMPLE SYSTEM FOR A QUICK AND SURE RESULT
The CAMPISA prefabricated pit: a technologic object structurally designed for eliminating any reinforcement, not only a couple of simple casting sheets. The monolithic front connection with steel bumper bearers is vehicle proof, thanks to its rear brackets that make it a unique and indestructible piece within the front wall.
The CAMPISA prefabricated pits reverse the construction sequence: instead of building “pits” with reinforced walls, into which the dock levelers are put, only the front wall is built, the dock is filled with compacted inert soil, the prefabricated pits are positioned and levelled, the weak mix sub pavement concrete, mesh and the pavement are cast: in one rather than previously six weeks.
The sequence represented here, is already widely self-explanatory, further confirmation can be found in the animated demonstration available on the web site www.fen-bayservices.co.uk
The CP prefabricated pit represents the complete solution to all problems of building a pit. Shipped disassembled for minimizing freight costs, it is assembled in less than 15minutes without any possibility of mistakes. Squaring is maintained by a jig.
It is completed with distance-keepers. The front connection includes strong shock-absorbers of steel and solid rubber, durable even under heavy impacts of reversing vehicles. The strong steel sheets duly bracketed, are structurally calculated to substitute the three side reinforced walls.
It is only necessary to build the front wall, with the opening for the prefabricated pit. Into these pits the traditional CAMPISA dock levellers are installed at the end of all wet trades”.
A SIMPLE SYSTEM FOR BUILDING THE ENTIRE DOCK
The prefabricated CAMPISA dock: using high technology for calculating the structural metal sheets eliminates the use of any reinforcement during casting. The monolithic front connection with steel bumper bearers is vehicle proof, and is hot dip galvanized to avoid rust in the future.
The prefabricated CAMPISA dock completely substitutes the front wall. This innovative system further reduces installation stages: by eliminating reinforced walls, eliminating the heavy rod castle reinforcements of the two side overhangs, eliminating the front wall by substituting it using its front hot dip galvanized wall.
The dock appears from nothing, complete with pit and clearance for the tail-lifts, on a simple reinforced base slab. Years of development and tests, have culminated in an international patent of wide validity that constitutes an excellence of innovation.
This simple, rapid, sure system for building docks starting from a simple reinforced slab at ground level. It is the complete solution: the front wall is directly constituted by the hot dip galvanized front face of the prefabricated dock.
It is the ultimate solution for stand alone dock levelers, for multiple bays and renovations. Into these pits the traditional CAMPISA dock levelers are installed at the end of all “wet trades”. The prefabricated pit is 1 m high and the slabs height corresponds to reach the desired dock level.
For a dock 115 cm high, the reinforced slab shall be 15 cm. The bottom room for the tail-lift is 3 m wide (minimum requirement). The prefabricated slab is supplied with two full super bumpers, dimensions 150 x 400 h, 130 mm deep for preserving the wall above the dock leveler from collisions caused by the roofs of docking vehicle trailers.
